OK, let’s skip that one before it gets too weird.
SF encompasses a tremendous range of interests, and one can quibble with my pronouncement and argue that I’m an SF writer, plain and simple. I’d suggest the distinction comes down to structure and the interweaving of multiple suspense elements into a story. There’s a different creative dynamic at work. It’s hard to describe. But like porn, I know it when I see it.
Then again, maybe it just comes down to being a mutant and viewing the universe through far-fetched eyes.
